NMEA 0183 Gateway

Description

The NMEA 0183 Gateway enables seamless connectivity between NMEA 0183 equipment and a NMEA 2000 network, functioning as a bi-directional converter. It supports a wide range of message types, including AIS and autopilot. The Gateway features one NMEA 2000 connection and a single NMEA 0183 port with both transmit and receive data lines. Its configurable baud rate, adjustable from 300 to 115200 baud, ensures compatibility with various devices such as AIS transceivers (38400 baud), high-speed NMEA 0183 multiplexers, PC adaptors, and standard NMEA 0183 equipment. It supports both "single-ended" (RS-232) and "differential" (RS-422) NMEA 0183 connections and is compatible with PC COM (serial) ports and USB-to-serial adaptors. The device includes a Micro SD card slot for configuration, firmware updates, and diagnostic data logging. No specialized software is required for setup or updates—only a laptop or smartphone with a MicroSD card reader and a basic text editor are needed.
